Little Things

I was changing my clothes after I came home from the doctor's office, and I realized something. Or at least, I thought of something. Friendship is what keeps us going. Love is what keeps every single person going. I was thinking of my high school and college days and I remember just feeling constant joy. Joy because I knew that every day without fail I would see someone I cared about. No matter what went on the previous night, the next morning I was surrounded by the same people.
Maybe that's why we miss those days. The days when our life was based on seeing the same faces every day. Being alone is nice, but never as rewarding as a genuine laugh amongst friends.
Maybe that's why we miss being students, not because of the school work of course, but because every day we were guaranteed a smile. Every day we spoke to someone and every day we listened.
I love being around people. I love to be alone. But ultimately I think I love the look of joy on someone's face the most.
I guess as a newly 23-year-old, I am viewing life differently. I've always been a positive person, but now I understand that life is only as beautiful as you choose to see it. We can change our view every minute of the day. Why worry about tomorrow, when today will soon be one of our best memories?
