Calling all Pre-health students. This summer I was given the amazing opportunity to take part in a pre-health internship at Rutgers Medical school. It geared towards dental, medical, nursing, and pharmacy students currently in college. Throughout this six week program you get to interact with a diversity of students with the same interests, and really explore the field you want to pursue. We were put into tracks depending on our transcripts, and had the opportunity to take Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Bio-stats. This was an amazing way to prepare for upcoming courses at my university. Along with the classes, we also had presentations from various Doctors, presenting their field, and the work they deal with on a daily basis. From this we gained insight on the day to day life as a doctor, dentist, and nurse.
We were also presented with the amazing opportunity to speak to the dean of admissions for the Dental school, and receive feedback on our transcripts and advice on how we should improve our resume and academic life to potentially hold a spot at their Dental schools. Along with that, we were also taken into the clinics, and got to shadow dentists, and oversee the life of a dental student. We took part in tooth fillings, and impression making. It was overall an amazing experience, to act as a dental student. The environment was absolutely inspiring. Living at the dorms was also amazing, the connections I made throughout this internship are never to be forgotten. If you are a pre-health student with freshmen or sophomore standing please take your time to start your application. This internship is one for the books, you wont regret it.
I will leave the link down below, so anyone can apply. I really recommend this internship. 6 weeks never passed by so fast. It is an experience I wish I could relive everyday.
